This structure was built in 1972 as BRAMSON's, a high end women's clothing shop. The former Bramson store on this site was destroyed by fire on October 8th 1971 ( the 100th anniversary of the great Chicago Fire). Bramson's closed in 1977 after which the building became a Krochs & Brentano's book shop for several years before conversion to CVS.

Can someone please tell me the history/origin of Howell Park? My father, John Howell and his siblings grew up in Evanston, living there in the first quarter of the 20th century. He was the son of Maynard Howell(who died in 1917 tragically)and Anne Nugent Howell. Thank you for any information, Delinda Howell Syme, Vermont
  • Unicorn Cafe, Nick (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
Highly debatable: Brothers K (Main Street at Hinman in Evanston) Metropolis (Granville and Broadway in Chicago) Both give Unicorn a run for its money. Also Unicorn's espresso is rather sub par. ... What a surprise, people on the internet have opinions!
